Besides being a Pulitzer prize winner, one of the original enironmentalists, a farmer, and practically the DIY architect of the famous Malabar Farm, in Northern Ohio (the place where Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall married and spent their honeymoon), Louis Bromfield was also a Boxer lover, keeping four dogs at any one time.One anecdote has his gang of troublemakers figuring out how to work the French handles on Malabar's doors, sneaking out into the garden, releasing the handbrake on a car and rolling it into a pond across the street...
