Beta-Carotene for Dogs

Beta-Carotene for Dogs is particularly important for breeds such as the Boxer as it as an antioxident that is believed to help prevent cancer.

Additionally, beta-carotene is important for vision.

Besides carrots (one medium raw delivers 25,000 IU, more than enough for a Boxer) other sources include: egg yolks, liver, cod liver oil and most leafy vegetables.

Commercial products are available through most health food stores, if it is determined your Boxer's diet is deficient, and your dog doesn't like carrots. Most dogs do!

A Boxer with a deficiency in beta-carotene intake may show abnormal bone spurs or skin lesions.
